Kara and Keith welcomed their baby girl Elle a few weeks ago and I came to their home for their in-home newborn session about a week after she was born. Kara and I first met many years ago when we worked together in college at the University of Minnesota! It’s always such a special honor to reconnect and capture these incredibly special seasons for new parents – I also got to take pregnancy announcement photos for them back in December! I absolutely love their sweet little nursey and the calming sage color that they chose. Kara & Keith also did an amazing job choosing outfits for their session – that might sound silly but it really does make such a difference when the color palette of your clothing/baby’s outfit/nursey colors all come together. The earth tones are so calming and natural! Luckily for us, we also caught lilac season just in time and got to capture some sweet mama & baby portraits in front of their neighbor’s home!
Kara and Keith have a such a sweet relationship and it was so special to see them as brand new parents – they are clearly so in love with their little girl and were so expectant for her arrival. One of my favorites from this session is towards the end… a photo of the three of them in front of their first home. Photos like that are the ones I know will be printed and brought out of a dusty box someday for Elle’s graduation party or wedding. It’s a crazy honor to be a small part of a family’s legacy taking place.
