I’m so excited to share this Capitol Room wedding with you today! This was an extra meaningful wedding for me to capture since Jay and I got married at The Capitol Room in the fall of 2018! It was honestly really surreal to be on the other side of the camera this time around!
Holly & Luke are such a sweet, kind and genuine couple. Holly and I actually first met when we were both in college at the University of Minnesota and volunteered together. She reached out to me once she got engaged because she had seen our wedding photos and loved our venue – and then we reconnected, and she and Luke decided to hire me to photograph their May wedding at the Capitol Room! We had a heat wave in Minnesota during their wedding weekend (with the humidity it felt like 100 degrees out!) so we kept outdoor time to a minimum and did their bridal party and family photos inside the venue. Thankfully the Capitol Room has some wonderful options for indoor photos so it wasn’t a stressor! For Holly & Luke’s first look and couple portraits, we drove up the hill to Gustavus, to their arboretum!
There were so many special touches throughout their day – their officiant is a fire chaplain at Luke’s fire department, Holly’s neighbor is part of Mixed Brew band and sang their first dance song, for their unity ceremony they brought dirt from their childhood homes and added it to a tree sprout plant and Holly’s grandma gifted grandma’s mother’s wedding band. I love when couples have such meaningful details throughout their day – it makes everything feel extra extra sacred!
Enjoy married life, Holly & Luke!
